I’ve been hearing about this fad for a while now. It really started when I gave birth about five months ago, and my mom came to help me. She’s all into this organic movement, and knowing where the source of your food comes from. Much respect by the way. Anyways, she was trying to get me onto the bone broth bandwagon, she took me to a fermentation farm and everything. At the time I was not in the mood, nor entertained, since I was taking care of a newborn. (If you want to skip the story and just read about the benefits be my guest). 

Now fast forward to this past weekend, and let me tell you after this weekend I hoped onto the bandwagon. I saw the benefits of bone broth almost immediately. It started Friday, my five month old, went down with a really bad cough, and cold. Of course a first time mother I freaked out took him to the ER, the whole shebang. He’s alright by the way, just ended up being a case of the croup cough. Anyways I had to stay home from work Friday since he was sick, he was crying all day, every time he coughed, he was in pain, he stayed up all hours of the night. It was not fun, to say the least. My mom once again, all the way from Hawai’I pushing me to go get some bone broth, since I am still breastfeeding and she swore that the nutrients of the bone broth would go to him. Desperate at that point I got in the car with my crying, sick baby and went on search for some bone broth. By the way it’s amazing how many places now a days have fresh bone broth. You can also get boxed bone broth from Whole Foods, and even Vitamin Shoppe. I was lucky enough to find a place close to home that had fresh bone broth, and even a vegetable soup made with chicken bone broth. I got beef bone broth (because I like the flavor of it more so then chicken); and also the vegetable soup. Went home, ate the soup (around 6 that night) and drank it with some kombucha and prayed it’d help my son.

 Now fast-forward 4 hours, I fed him, and trying to put him to sleep. I was really questioning if the bone broth would even work, he was still crying, even when I was carrying him, which is so unlike him. He was still in a lot of pain, and not feeling so great. At that point I completely forgot about the bone broth. He finally went down at 11pm. Now let me tell you, and remind you he’s five months old. He passed out. He didn’t wake up until the next day at 10 am. That’s 11 hours of sleep! I had to pump twice throughout which again is where I really saw the first benefits of bone broth. My milk supply increased almost immediately. When he woke up at 10am he was giggling, and happy. He didn’t cry the rest of the day, and he was back to normal. Minus the runny nose, and his cough (which got so much better). It wasn’t so horse, but a light cough; and it didn’t hurt him like it did the night before. He was no longer crying like he was in pain. I was amazed. Not only the clear results in him, but within myself as well. Needless to say I drank bone broth the rest of the weekend, made my own soup with it, with some cayenne pepper. Super yummy. And am going to buy some more today. I was able to drop him off at day care this morning, and with an 8 oz bottle of milk that I pumped this morning. Where before I could only get 3 oz if I was lucky.

And yes, I am a breastfeeding mom, some people may find it TMI, but I wanted to share because it just shows immediate results. You may be a guy, or a woman clearly not breastfeeding but you’ll see health benefits from it I can guarantee you of that. Yummy Turkey Meatloaf Meal Prep Recipe

So sometimes you crave a good meatloaf but you don't want all the fat that goes with it. This recipe gives you a good alternative to mom's meatloaf. 

It's super easy and super yummy!
To Begin, pre-heat oven to 375.

Ingredients:
1. 1lb of Lean Ground Turkey
2. 1 TBSP of Herbs De Provence
3. 1 Egg
4. 3 Cups of Blended plain oats. 
5. 1 Tsp of Salt
6. 1 Tsp of Pepper
7. 1 Chopped Purple Onion
8. Organic Ketchup
9.Olive oil

Directions: 
1. So to start off with put the ground turkey in a big bowl, mix the egg, herbs, oats, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
2. After mixing the mixture, put it in a oven safe dish.
3. Put the chopped onions in another bowl, mix with some olive oil, and little dash of salt. 
4. Put the chopped onions around or on top of the meat loaf in the pan.
5. Pop it in the oven, and cook for 20 min. 
6. After 20 min put the ketchup on top, and put it back in the oven for 5 min.
7. Viola!! Super easy and Super YUMMMY!
